Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at Varanus Island and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
Pilbara Ports' Port of Varanus Island Port Handbook, approved 30 June 2021, declares the Varanus Island Offshore Facility Network a Security Regulated Offshore Facility under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003, and sets out maritime security levels 1 to 3 for the facility. Because Varanus Island is an offshore facility rather than a public port, travel, site access and induction are arranged through the facility operator rather than at a port gate. Your MSIC is one requirement among several; confirm the rest with the operator or your employer before you travel.
Pilbara Ports runs its own MSIC service from its Dampier and Port Hedland offices and names no issuing body for Varanus Island. There is no Australia Post outlet on Varanus Island; it is an offshore facility with no town. After approval your MSIC is printed and sent by registered post to the address you nominate.

A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
