MSIC Processing Times: Measured Data

Methodology: measured internally from ClientView's application records, 3,832 applications lodged January 2025 to June 2026, updated on the 1st of every month. Headline result: 98.7% of applications cleared AusCheck's background check within three weeks once lodged, against AusCheck's own national guidance of 75% within three weeks. ClientView controls lodgement only; AusCheck controls the background check.

98.7%

of ClientView's 3,832-application sample (January 2025 to June 2026) cleared AusCheck's background check within three weeks once lodged, against AusCheck's national guidance of 75%.

Measured processing times at a glance

1 day

Median: identity verification to AusCheck lodgement. Automated, nothing sits in a queue.

2 days

Median AusCheck background check clearance. About 7 in 10 clear within a week.

87%

of cards printed and despatched within 2 business days of approval.

11 days

Median, identity verification to card despatch, end to end. 62% within 2 weeks, 76% within 3 weeks.

The slowest stage is the one only you control. Payment to identity verification takes a median of 7 days, and 1 in 6 applicants take over a month. Verify your identity the same week you apply to avoid the single biggest avoidable delay.

The two-stage split

Stage 1, ClientView: from a complete, paid, identity-verified application to lodgement with AusCheck. Measured median: 1 business day (12 months to June 2026).

Stage 2, AusCheck: the government background check itself, timed from the date AusCheck receives a complete application. This stage is outside any issuing body's control.

Why ClientView's rate is higher than the national average

AusCheck (the government agency that runs the background check) reports that 75% of applications nationally are processed within three weeks, with some taking three to eight weeks. In ClientView's own sample of 3,832 applications from January 2025 to June 2026, 98.7% cleared within three weeks once lodged. We believe the gap reflects lodgement quality: a complete, accurate application gives AusCheck nothing to query. Both figures are stated with their scope made explicit so neither is mistaken for the other.

Methodology

Stage 1 timing is measured internally by ClientView from the timestamp an application is marked complete, paid and identity-verified to the timestamp it is lodged with AusCheck, across all ClientView applications in the stated period. The 75% Stage 2 figure is AusCheck's own published national guidance, not independently audited by ClientView. The 98.7% figure is measured internally by ClientView from lodgement date to AusCheck approval date, across 3,832 ClientView applications lodged over the 18 months from January 2025 to June 2026; it describes ClientView's own applicants only and is not a benchmark of other issuing bodies. This page is updated on the 1st of every month.
