Port of Dampier

Western Australia

The Port of Dampier is one of the world's largest bulk export ports, shipping Rio Tinto iron ore from the Pilbara alongside solar salt and other bulk products. It sits at the heart of the Pilbara's resources supply chain, near Karratha.

Anyone needing unescorted access to a maritime security zone at Dampier must hold a valid MSIC, including stevedores, marine pilots, tug and mooring crews, terminal maintenance workers and contractors servicing the iron ore and salt export facilities.

ClientView is an Australian Government authorised MSIC issuing body. Apply online in 10 to 15 minutes, verify your identity at a participating Australia Post outlet in Dampier or Karratha, and we lodge every ready application with AusCheck each business day. Our measured median time from a complete application to AusCheck lodgement was 1 business day over the 12 months to June 2026. Start your application or read our measured processing times.

Local requirements

Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at Dampier and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.

Rio Tinto's dedicated terminals operate their own site inductions and safety requirements, and many roles are FIFO-based out of Karratha or Perth. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.
