Site access
The whole site is a land-side restricted zone: unescorted entry needs both an MSIC and a Pilbara Ports site induction, and anyone without both is escorted and signs in at the Safety and Security Services Building.
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at Dampier and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
Rio Tinto's dedicated terminals operate their own site inductions and safety requirements, and many roles are FIFO-based out of Karratha or Perth. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.
Pilbara Ports publishes one MSIC page covering both Dampier and Port Hedland, explaining that the MSIC identifies a person who has been the subject of a background check so that port security is consistent Australia-wide. It lists a dedicated MSIC office for Dampier, shown as temporarily relocated to Karratha, and states that bookings are essential for both of its offices. Pilbara Ports runs its MSIC office for users of its own ports, and its MSIC page names no issuing body at all. A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

Proof of identity documents, evidence of your right to work in Australia, a 10 year address history, and an operational need confirming why you require unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). We tell you exactly what to bring before you go to verify.
A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
