Sydney Harbour

New South Wales

Sydney Harbour is home to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, the White Bay cruise terminal, and the Glebe Island and White Bay working harbour precincts.

Anyone who needs unescorted access to a maritime security zone within Sydney Harbour must hold a valid MSIC, including stevedores, cruise terminal staff, marine crew, agents and contractors. Container and bulk cargo operations at nearby Port Botany are covered on its own page.

ClientView is an Australian Government authorised MSIC issuing body. Apply online in 10 to 15 minutes, verify your identity at a participating Australia Post outlet anywhere in Sydney, and we lodge every ready application with AusCheck each business day. Our measured median time from a complete application to AusCheck lodgement was 1 business day over the 12 months to June 2026. Start your application or read our measured processing times.

Local requirements

Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid across Sydney Harbour and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia, including Port Botany.

The Port Authority of New South Wales and individual terminal operators may require local inductions, vehicle registration or access passes in addition to your MSIC, and cruise terminals can apply additional screening during passenger operations. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.
