Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid across Sydney Harbour and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia, including Port Botany.
The Port Authority of New South Wales and individual terminal operators may require local inductions, vehicle registration or access passes in addition to your MSIC, and cruise terminals can apply additional screening during passenger operations. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.

Port Authority of NSW's own Sydney Harbour security page records that the Sydney Ports Corporation MSIC Service Centre ceased as an authorised issuing body on 29 November 2013, and that the authority now has an agreement with one named issuing body, to which it directs people for actions such as applying for a new card, renewing, or updating their contact details. That describes the port authority's own arrangement, not a rule about which issuing body you must use. An MSIC is a national card and is valid at Sydney Harbour whichever Australian Government authorised issuing body issued it, and ClientView is one of them: the same card and the same AusCheck background check, one all inclusive price from $479.09 ex GST (ClientView published pricing, as at 18 August 2026), identity verified at a participating Australia Post outlet in Sydney, and every ready application lodged with AusCheck each business day.

How to apply
Fill out the secure online form. Between 20 and 45 minutes online if you have your details to hand.
Visit a participating Australia Post outlet with your original documents, or use your employer's trained workplace verifier if it has one.
Once you are verified we lodge your application with AusCheck. We lodge ready applications every business day.
After approval your MSIC is printed and sent by registered post to the address you nominate.

Port Authority of NSW's own Sydney Harbour security page lists the facilities required to hold maritime security plans under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003, including Barangaroo, the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, Glebe Island and White Bay, and Shell Gore Cove, and states that the MSIC is issued to people required to work unmonitored or unescorted in a maritime security zone. A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
