Port of Sydney

New South Wales

Sydney's working port spans Sydney Harbour and Port Botany, taking in cruise terminals at Circular Quay and White Bay, the Glebe Island and White Bay working harbour, and Australia's second largest container port at Port Botany.

Anyone who needs unescorted access to a maritime security zone in Sydney must hold a valid MSIC, including stevedores, cruise terminal staff, truck drivers, marine crew, agents and contractors across both precincts.

ClientView is an Australian Government authorised MSIC issuing body. Apply online in 10 to 15 minutes, verify your identity at a participating Australia Post outlet anywhere in Sydney, and we lodge every ready application with AusCheck each business day. Our measured median AusCheck clearance was 2 days over the 12 months to June 2026. Start your application or read our measured processing times.

Local requirements

Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid across Sydney Harbour, Port Botany and every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.

The Port Authority of New South Wales and individual terminal operators may require local inductions, vehicle registration or access passes in addition to your MSIC, and cruise terminals can apply additional screening during passenger operations. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.
