Site access
Induction cards for Port of Newcastle managed sites are collected 24 hours a day from the Carrington Gatehouse (Engine House Road, Carrington) or the K2 Gatehouse (Heron Road, Kooragang), with government issued photo ID.
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at the Port of Newcastle and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
The port operator and individual terminals may require a local safety induction, site access pass or vehicle booking in addition to your MSIC, and rail connected areas can carry their own access rules. Confirm current local requirements with the Port of Newcastle or your employer before your first shift.
Port of Newcastle's MSIC page states that MSICs are required at the Port of Newcastle when a Maritime Security Zone has been established, and advises speaking to the relevant shipping agent or stevedoring company about any Maritime Restricted Zones at the terminal you need to enter. MSICs are issued by Australian Government authorised issuing bodies, and the card is national, so you can apply through any authorised issuing body and use the card at the Port of Newcastle if a Maritime Security Zone is in force. Once you are verified we lodge your application with AusCheck. We lodge ready applications every business day.
After approval your MSIC is printed and sent by registered post to the address you nominate.

Under regulation 6.07F(1), anyone who needs unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at the Port of Newcastle at least once each year must hold a valid MSIC. Port of Newcastle's MSIC page states that MSICs are required at the port when a Maritime Security Zone has been established, and advises checking with the relevant shipping agent or stevedoring company which zones apply at your terminal. A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
