Port of Newcastle is a declared security regulated port in New South Wales, with berths at Western Basin, Dyke Point, Kooragang and Mayfield. Its own MSIC page states that MSICs are required at the port when a Maritime Security Zone has been established, and the port separately requires every worker on its managed land to hold a Port of Newcastle induction card. This page brings together what applies at Port of Newcastle and how to get your card through ClientView.

Each port below is separately declared a security regulated port under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003. One MSIC covers all of them, and every other regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
Each port below shows the participating Australia Post outlet closest to it, but you do not have to use that one. Any participating outlet in Australia can verify your identity, and for most people the easiest one is near home, not near the wharf. Not every Post Office offers the service, so use our one-minute guide to find one that does: Find an Australia Post MSIC verifier near you.
Induction cards for Port of Newcastle managed sites are collected 24 hours a day from the Carrington Gatehouse (Engine House Road, Carrington) or the K2 Gatehouse (Heron Road, Kooragang), with government issued photo ID.

An MSIC shows you have passed the AusCheck background check. Your port or terminal operator decides who enters, and runs the inductions, permits and access cards. Your MSIC and Port of Newcastle's own site access requirements are separate. Port of Newcastle requires every company working on its managed land to be registered, and every worker to hold a Port of Newcastle induction card, collected 24 hours a day from the Carrington Gatehouse or the K2 Gatehouse with government issued photo ID. Visitors doing no work must be escorted and check in at the nearest gatehouse. Confirm current requirements with Port of Newcastle or your employer before you travel.
Port of Newcastle's own MSIC page sets out when the port requires an MSIC. Its exact words are quoted in full below, as read on 1 October 2026.
Separately, Port of Newcastle states that every company engaged to access or work on its managed land must register in its Contractor Management System, and that every employee must hold a valid induction card for entry onto site. Induction cards are collected 24 hours a day from the Carrington Gatehouse or the K2 Gatehouse, with government issued photo ID. Visitors doing no work must be escorted at all times by an inducted person and check in by QR code at the nearest gatehouse. Port of Newcastle does not induct for some facilities at the port run by other companies; for those, confirm requirements with the facility.
