Port Kembla

New South Wales

Port Kembla, in the Illawarra south of Wollongong, is home to the BlueScope steelworks and is NSW's largest terminal for motor vehicle imports and grain exports, as well as a major coal export terminal.

Anyone who needs unescorted access to a maritime security zone at Port Kembla must hold a valid MSIC, including stevedores, marine pilots, tug crew, vehicle processing and terminal workers, and contractors servicing the steelworks and coal terminal.

ClientView is an Australian Government authorised MSIC issuing body. Apply online in 10 to 15 minutes, verify your identity at a participating Australia Post outlet in Wollongong or Port Kembla, and we lodge every ready application with AusCheck each business day. Our measured median time from a complete application to AusCheck lodgement was 1 business day over the 12 months to June 2026. Start your application or read our measured processing times.

Local requirements

Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at Port Kembla and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.

BlueScope and the coal and vehicle terminals each set their own site inductions and safety requirements. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.
