Port Botany, in Sydney's south, is Australia's second largest container port and NSW's main hub for containerised imports and exports, operated by NSW Ports.
Anyone who needs unescorted access to the maritime security zone at Port Botany must hold a valid MSIC, including stevedores, container terminal staff, truck drivers, marine crew, agents and contractors.
ClientView is an Australian Government authorised MSIC issuing body. Apply online in 10 to 15 minutes, verify your identity at a participating Australia Post outlet anywhere in Sydney, and we lodge every ready application with AusCheck each business day. Our measured median time from a complete application to AusCheck lodgement was 1 business day over the 12 months to June 2026. Start your application or read our measured processing times.
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at Port Botany and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
NSW Ports and individual container terminal operators may require local inductions, vehicle registration or access passes in addition to your MSIC. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit. If you also work in Sydney Harbour's cruise and general cargo precincts, see our separate Sydney Harbour page.
NSW Ports states Port Botany is a regulated Maritime Security Zone and a current MSIC is required for zone access, with applications directed to 1-Stop or Veritas. Read NSW Ports' port user guidance.
