Site access
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at the Port of Melbourne and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
Terminal operators at Melbourne may require local safety inductions, vehicle registration or booking arrangements in addition to your MSIC, particularly for regular commercial vehicle access. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.
Port of Melbourne confirms an MSIC must be displayed if working unmonitored or unescorted within a maritime security zone, and without one a person cannot work unescorted in those zones. Read Port of Melbourne's MSIC page.
MSICs are issued by Australian Government authorised issuing bodies, and the card is national, so you can apply through any authorised issuing body and use the card at the Port of Melbourne. After approval your MSIC is printed and sent by registered post to the address you nominate.

A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

Proof of identity documents, evidence of your right to work in Australia, a 10 year address history, and an operational need confirming why you require unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). We tell you exactly what to bring before you go to verify.
A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
