Site access
Anyone who needs unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at Cape Preston at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)) must hold a valid MSIC.
Cape Preston is declared under C2017G00128, registered 2 February 2017 and in force. Read the declaration on the Federal Register of Legislation.
The designated port operator is the person from time to time occupying the position of Director-General of the Western Australian Department of Transport (C2015G00799). CITIC Pacific Mining, the company that runs Sino Iron, publishes no MSIC or maritime security zone page; its site says only that employees, contractors and visitors complete training through its SinoONE site mobilisation system before first arriving on site. Confirm access and induction requirements with your employer or CITIC Pacific Mining before you travel (Perth office, +61 8 9226 8888).
Cape Preston is a separate declared port from Cape Preston West, which has its own declaration and its own operator; an MSIC is one national card valid at both.
The nearest Australia Post outlet offering the Maritime and Aviation Security ID Cards (MSIC, ASIC) service is Karratha Post Office, Lot 3915 Klenk St, Karratha WA 6714.
Your MSIC and permission to enter are separate
Your MSIC shows you have met the background checking requirements. Your port or terminal operator controls site entry, inductions and access passes, so confirm them before you travel. AusCheck: apply for an MSIC
