Visitors must first get the coal terminal owner's authorisation to enter; they are then escorted in and need photo ID, and vehicles need authorisation.
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at Abbot Point and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
North Queensland Bulk Ports states an MSIC is valid at every NQBP port and that every person entering a restricted zone must wear one. NQBP and the terminal operator manage local access controls on top of the MSIC, so confirm current requirements with the operator or your employer before your first shift. North Queensland Bulk Ports publishes the MSIC requirement for its ports and directs port users to hold a current card; it does not offer an application service of its own at Abbot Point. A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
