Entry is by a swipe access card issued by Port of Townsville Limited, which is separate from your MSIC.
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at the Port of Townsville and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
The Port of Townsville is operated by Port of Townsville Limited, and entry is by a swipe access card it issues, which is separate from your MSIC. The operator may require a local safety induction or site access pass in addition to your MSIC, and areas connected to defence activity can carry extra access controls set by the relevant authorities. Confirm current local requirements with the port or your employer before your first visit.
Port of Townsville confirms anyone working within a maritime security zone must have and display an MSIC. Since 14 July 2023 the port no longer processes MSIC applications and directs applicants to apply via AusCheck. MSICs are issued by the Australian Government's authorised issuing bodies, listed by AusCheck; ClientView is one of them, and an MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at the Port of Townsville. Not the port. The Port of Townsville stopped processing MSIC applications on 14 July 2023. MSICs for Townsville are issued by Australian Government authorised issuing bodies such as ClientView: the application runs fully online, identity is verified at one of at least 324 Australia Post outlets that offer the MSIC identity check (Australia Post outlet locator, 27 August 2026), and ready applications are lodged with AusCheck each business day. A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

Proof of identity documents, evidence of your right to work in Australia, a 10 year address history, and an operational need confirming why you require unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). We tell you exactly what to bring before you go to verify.
A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
