GeelongPort operates the Port of Geelong, Victoria's second largest port, including the Corio Quay and Lascelles precincts and Refinery Pier. The port is a Commonwealth-declared security regulated port, and anyone who needs unmonitored access to a maritime security zone here needs a valid MSIC. This page brings together what applies at the Port of Geelong and how to get your card through ClientView.

Each port below is separately declared a security regulated port under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003. One MSIC covers all of them, and every other regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
Each port below shows the participating Australia Post outlet closest to it, but you do not have to use that one. Any participating outlet in Australia can verify your identity, and for most people the easiest one is near home, not near the wharf. At Lascelles Wharf and Corio Quay North, workers who have completed GeelongPort's Site Access Induction swipe in with a GeelongPort Site Access Card or, without one, sign in at the Security Hut at the front gate; anyone who has not completed the induction is denied entry.

An MSIC shows you have passed the AusCheck background check. Your port or terminal operator decides who enters, and runs the inductions, permits and access cards. Your MSIC and GeelongPort's own Site Access Card are separate. GeelongPort's own Port Access page requires every Port User and visitor to comply with its site access requirements: your company registers in its Donesafe contractor management system, you complete a Site Access Induction, and you are issued a Site Access Card at the Corio Quay North Security Office. Confirm current induction and access requirements with GeelongPort or your employer before you travel.
GeelongPort's own pages require every Port User and visitor to comply with its site access requirements before entering the Port of Geelong, which covers the Corio Quay and Lascelles precincts and Refinery Pier. Your employer must first register your company in GeelongPort's Donesafe contractor management system; your company's Business Administrator then assigns you a Site Access Induction, which you complete before you arrive. Once inducted, you book an appointment at the Corio Quay North Security Office to have a Site Access Card issued or renewed, bringing photo identification such as a driver's licence. A hard hat, safety glasses, a long sleeve top, trousers, a high-visibility vest or top and safety boots are required in operational areas, and a personal flotation device within one metre of a wharf edge.
The Port of Geelong is a Commonwealth-declared security regulated port. Anyone who needs unmonitored access to a maritime security zone here at least once a year must separately hold a valid MSIC, issued by an Australian Government authorised issuing body; GeelongPort's own pages do not name one. ClientView is an Australian Government authorised MSIC issuing body, offering the same card and the same AusCheck background check, completed online with identity verified at a participating Australia Post outlet.
The Port of Geelong is a security regulated port declared under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (C2025G00166, registered 2 April 2025, which revoked the earlier C2014G01273 of 1 August 2014). GeelongPort Pty Ltd is the Register-designated port operator (C2014G00114, registered 23 January 2014). Both instruments were confirmed in force on the Federal Register of Legislation on 23 September 2026, checked against each notice's own record of revocations rather than its status tag alone.
Under regulation 6.07F(1) of the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, anyone who needs unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at the Port of Geelong at least once a year must hold a valid MSIC. The card is national: issued once, it is valid at the Port of Geelong and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.

After approval your MSIC is printed and dispatched by registered post to the address you nominate.
How long it takes
Apply at least six weeks before you need the card, so there is buffer even if your application falls outside the typical range. Complete GeelongPort's online Site Access Induction first; your company's Donesafe Business Administrator assigns it to you. Then book an appointment through GeelongPort's online booking system at the Corio Quay North Security Office, 138-140 Corio Quay Road, North Geelong, during business hours. Bring photo identification such as a driver's licence; a headshot is taken at the appointment.

GeelongPort's own Port Access page states that all Port Users and visitors must comply with GeelongPort's site access requirements, which extend to Maritime Security Zones including the waters surrounding Refinery Pier, Lascelles, Corio Quay, GrainCorp Pier and Bulk Grain Pier, and requires every company whose employees work on site to register in its Donesafe contractor management system before those employees complete a Site Access Induction and are issued a Site Access Card. GeelongPort's pages do not name the MSIC scheme or any issuing body (read 23 September 2026).
