Site access
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at the Port of Darwin and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
Given Darwin's defence significance, some areas carry additional access controls set by the relevant authorities, and the port operator may require local inductions or site passes in addition to your MSIC. Confirm current local requirements with the port operator or your employer before your first visit.
Darwin Port states that anyone working within a Maritime Security Zone must have and display an MSIC, or be escorted by an MSIC holder while inside a secure zone, and cites the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003. Darwin's zones are not permanently active and are activated only when certain vessels enter and berth. Read Darwin Port's MSIC requirements.
Darwin Port does not run an MSIC application service for the public. Not the port. AusCheck runs the background check; the card itself is issued by Australian Government authorised issuing bodies, and AusCheck's own published register lists eight of them, ClientView among them. The application runs fully online, identity is verified at one of at least 324 Australia Post outlets that offer the MSIC identity check (Australia Post outlet locator, 27 August 2026), and ready applications are lodged with AusCheck each business day. Visit a participating Australia Post outlet with your original documents, or use your employer's trained workplace verifier if it has one.
Once you are verified we lodge your application with AusCheck. We lodge ready applications every business day.
After approval your MSIC is printed and sent by registered post to the address you nominate.

A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

Proof of identity documents, evidence of your right to work in Australia, a 10 year address history, and an operational need confirming why you require unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). We tell you exactly what to bring before you go to verify.
A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
