Site access
Flinders Ports Access Card holders swipe their own card at each entry point, and non-access card holders must be escorted by an authorised person and verified at the Security Monitoring Centre.
Your MSIC is a national card. An MSIC issued by ClientView is valid at the Port of Adelaide and at every other security regulated port and offshore facility in Australia.
Flinders Ports and individual terminal operators may require local inductions or site access arrangements in addition to your MSIC, including for grain handling and bulk areas. Confirm current local requirements with the terminal operator or your employer before your first visit.
A South Australian Government Notice to Mariners confirms maritime security zones are established at Port Adelaide and that persons must display a valid MSIC while within those zones; Flinders Ports' own access card requirements also apply. Read the SA Government notice.
MSICs are issued by Australian Government authorised issuing bodies, and the card is national, so you can apply through any authorised issuing body and use the card at the Port of Adelaide. ClientView is an authorised issuing body based in South Australia: the application runs fully online, identity is verified at one of at least 324 Australia Post outlets that offer the MSIC identity check (Australia Post outlet locator, 27 August 2026), and ready applications are lodged with AusCheck each business day.
Flinders Ports' security page states that its Access Card is issued only to people who hold an MSIC or have applied for one. Your MSIC is valid at the Port of Adelaide whichever authorised issuing body issued it. Read the Flinders Ports security page. Current as at 25 August 2026.

After approval your MSIC is printed and sent by registered post to the address you nominate.

A Maritime Security Identification Card shows that you have met the background checking requirements for unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at an Australian port, on a ship or at an offshore facility. It is issued under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Regulations 2003, made under the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

Proof of identity documents, evidence of your right to work in Australia, a 10 year address history, and an operational need confirming why you require unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). We tell you exactly what to bring before you go to verify.
A written confirmation, usually from your employer, that your job genuinely requires unmonitored access to a maritime security zone at least once each year (r. 6.07F(1)). Without it an application cannot proceed. On our Silver and Gold levels we help you get it sorted.
No. Any criminal history declaration required for an MSIC is made to AusCheck, not to ClientView. As your issuing body, ClientView does not collect or assess criminal history. AusCheck advises us of the outcome only.
Renew before the expiry date to keep continuous access, since an expired card means no unmonitored access from day one. If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, apply for a replacement straight away.
