Standard vs Silver vs Gold: Which MSIC Service is Right for You?

Short Answer

All three ClientView service levels get you the same MSIC, they differ in how much of the work we do for you:

  • Standard: the do it yourself option. You enter your own details and source your own operational need letter. Best if you are comfortable online and have a simple address history.
  • Silver: a priority phone appointment where we enter your details, audit your 10 year address history for gaps, and pre check your ID before the Post Office.
  • Gold: the full concierge service. We handle everything, including contacting your employer for the operational need letter.

There is also a Job Ready option for people entering the industry who do not yet have an employer.

At ClientView, we know there are two types of applicants in the maritime industry: those who are tech-savvy and happy to do it themselves to save a few dollars, and those who are time-poor and just want the problem solved.

When you visit our Apply Page, you will see three distinct service levels: Standard, Silver, and Gold. We also offer a specialised Job Ready option for those looking to enter the industry.

Here is a detailed breakdown to help you choose the right package for your needs.

1. Standard Service: The "DIY" Option

Best for: Tech-savvy users, budget-conscious applicants, and those with simple address histories.

This is our base-level service. It is perfect if you are comfortable using computers and have all your documents ready to go.

  • What you get: Access to our secure online application portal.
  • What you do: You manually enter all your personal data, upload your own identity documents, and source your own "Operational Need" letter from your employer.
  • The Risk: If you make a mistake, like a typo in your 10-year address history or a blurry ID photo, your application will bounce back. You will have to log back in, fix the errors, and resubmit, which can delay your card by days or weeks.

2. Silver Service: Assisted Application

Best for: People who hate paperwork or aren't confident with online forms.

Think of this as the "we do the typing for you" service.

  • The Upgrade: Instead of fighting with online forms, you get a Priority Phone Appointment.
  • How it works: A ClientView expert gets on the phone with you. We interview you, enter all your data into the government-compliant format, and audit your address history to ensure there are no gaps (a common reason for AusCheck rejection).
  • Time Saved: Approximately 1.5 - 2 hours of frustration.
  • Bonus: We verify your identity documents before you go to the Post Office, ensuring you don't get turned away for having the wrong ID.

3. Gold Service: The Full Concierge

Best for: Busy contractors, business owners, or anyone with a complex work history.

This is our premium "hands-off" service. It is designed for people who cannot afford to waste a single minute on administration.

  • The Upgrade: We handle everything.
    • Application: We complete the entire form for you over the phone.
    • Document Audit: We pre-vet every single document.
    • Employer Liaison: This is the game-changer. We contact your employer directly to get the "Operational Need" letter signed and returned. This letter is often the biggest bottleneck in the process, and we chase it up so you don't have to.
  • Time Saved: Up to a full day of administrative work.

Special Category: The "Job Ready" Option

Best for: Job seekers, students, and contractors between roles.

On our application page, you will also see a "Job Ready" option. This is not a "service level" but a specific type of application designed for people who do not have an employer yet.

  • The Problem: Usually, you need a letter from an employer to get an MSIC. But you often need an MSIC to get the job.
  • The Solution: The Job Ready application allows you to pay for and complete your Government Background Check immediately.
  • The Result: You get "Pre-Approved." When you secure a job, you simply hand the operational need letter to us, and we can issue your card instantly because the background check is already done.

The "Fast Track" Myth

It is important to be transparent: No MSIC provider can speed up the government background check (AusCheck). That timeline is controlled by the government and can range from 1 day to several weeks.

However, the Gold Service speeds up everything else.

By ensuring your application is 100% error-free and compliant before we hit submit, we prevent the "back-and-forth" emails that can delay an application by weeks. A Standard application with errors might take 4 weeks to approve; a Gold application submitted perfectly might be approved in 2 weeks simply because the government didn't have to ask clarifying questions.
